Opening More Doors in Social Media

Linkedin-logo Today we opened up our Riverbed LinkedIn group page and made it a Public Group.  What this means is that all future discussions will be fully visible, searchable, and shareable on the Web, and that they can be seen by non-LinkedIn members, shared on Twitter and Facebook, and indexed by search engines.  (It also means that all past discussions are now closed in a members-only archive.)

The LinkedIn forums often contain some interesting discussions about our products and about networks in general.  If you've never seen them, I highly recommend paying the group a visit.

This follows our work earlier this year to merge our Support Forum with our Community Forum.  The Support Forum had been only accessible to support customers, but now nearly all of the combined forum is available to everyone (to be fair, a handful of boards do have restricted access), including thorny technical questions and the occasional difficulties that our customers post about. 

We feel that by opening up these forums, our customers, partners, and prospects are able to gain a better insight into the questions and issues, both good and bad, that our customers experience as they use our products.  Everyone can also see how well our support teams and our customers themselves answer questions, and some of the rave reviews that we receive on a regular basis.

We believe that openness is an important part of what we do and how we do it.  And as always, we look forward to your comments on this and all of our blog postings.

    I am not happy with you opening up the LinkedIn group and not managing it properly.
    There is no excuse for allowing people to turn a good group that we had for the past 6 months or so into advertising space.
    Either lock it back down or actually have someone monitor and manage it better because the blatant off topic posts for advertising peoples personal VARs is embarrassing and makes me want to remove myself from the group.
    I can understan some posts about things RSP/CLOUD/NETFLOW/SNMP related to Riverbed but selling cloud services or wireless and 95% of the post is about that topic and not Riverbed is terrible.

  2. Yes I think LinkedIn is a good social media and you can connect with the people related to your business. You can learn so much from this.
